Laying smoke on a bridge - Skryabin - 02-08-2010

I've just waisted 3 smoke rounds in a row trying to lay smoke on a bridge...

Wondering what was it, a bad luck or game engine?

Is it possible to lay smoke on a bridge?

My favorite album of all time is MACHINE HEAD by Deep Purple.

It has perhaps the single most recognizable rock guitar rift in the song "Smoke On The Water".

Unfortunately Talonsoft and later Matrix does not share my love of this song & coded the game engine so that one could never hear the beloved anthem while laying a kick ass smoke screen to cover an attack.

I have taken this unique opportunity to tweak the words to fit this MB post. Here it goes.......

No, smoke on the water or lightening in the sky.

No, smoke on the water ...

Bomme, Boome, Bomme,

Bomme-Bome,

Bomme-Bomme

Boome, Boome Boome

Bomme Boome

The reasoning is that smoke shells would land in the water and not be able to combust appropriately to deliver their loads. I find this pretty valid. In the final cross-river offensive in Germany for example, Konev's forces used low flying aircraft to dispense smoke over the rivers themselves and shells to lay smoke on the far shore. So, you're pretty much limited to smoking the far shore.

Has anyone tried to use engineers to lay a smoke screen while they're on the bridge? This should work, in my opinion.

Oh, I forgot to mention! That's what I tried to do - I tried to use engineers to lay a smoke screen while they're on the bridge. Didn't work for me...

I can reasons for the designers to take that stance, but I'd like to make sure it was a conscious decision and not just a product of the "smoke shells falling in the water" routine.

yea... or not some one-track engineers constantly dropping them from their hands right into the water by accident :conf:

The music was really good & Machine Head still sounds great. I do like Child In Time. I do not know why because it has no rhythm, but is a good song especially in car.

Space Truckin' is awesome as is Highway Star. I think John Lord's organ play added so much to the sound.

Cheers! I get a good virus protection. I have Trend Micro & love it!
