New Unit Questions - Cam - 04-04-2010 Hi All Was going through the OOB editor and noticed some new units that I do not know what they do...... " Civilians " - Do they move with your side ? Do they just move around the map ? I would assume if they are attacked the point value would be added against your side. I think it is a cool idea for a scenario say for having roads clogged with refugees. Anyone use them ? " Political Officer " - Under the German oob, do they act as a leader ? " Schutzen " - What type of unit is this ? I am assuming it is infantry but I have never heard of this. Thanks in advance Cam RE: New Unit Questions - Jason Petho - 04-05-2010 (04-04-2010, 11:31 AM)Cam Wrote: Hi All I haven't seen their use yet in MCS, but you will see them quite a bit in Modern Wars: Volume I. They act like other units, but will cost you points if you lose them. (04-04-2010, 11:31 AM)Cam Wrote: " Political Officer " - Under the German oob, do they act as a leader ? They act similiar to a leader but only affect Morale. (04-04-2010, 11:31 AM)Cam Wrote: " Schutzen " - What type of unit is this ? I am assuming it is infantry but I have never heard of this. The standard German infantry unit. Jason Petho RE: New Unit Questions - K K Rossokolski - 04-05-2010 Political officers .......commissars.... already exist in JTCS 1.04, Spanish Republicans being a good and realistic example. I rarely touch EF, but I vaguely recall the Sovs having them too. My question is are they appropriate in the German Army..the Heere? or the SS, for that matter? Does anyone know of officers specifically posted to German elements, units or formations for political indoctrination purposes. As for civilians, I recall their introduction to DGVN. The purpose was to simulate "winning hearts and minds" For the US side, there was a penalty if civilians were killed. Should read Heer. My apologies. From the Unittext: Formed during December 1943 the High Command instituted a new appointment within front-line units – the National Socialist Leadership Officer (NSFO). Hitler tasked these leaders with maintaining the morale and defensive steadfastness of the troops despite the increasingly unfavourable conditions. Carefully selected from battle-experienced and decorated veterans known for their fanatical commitment to the Nazi cause, the NSFOs soon became the primary instrument of political indoctrination in the German Army during the last 18 months of the war. Hope that helps Jason Petho RE: New Unit Questions - K K Rossokolski - 04-05-2010 Thanks, mate. |
