Ideas for rules to be used in Salerno stock campains? - raizer - 05-18-2010 so what about quality fatigue in the stock salerno campaign? and any others to avoid/consider based on your experiences? RE: Ideas for rules to be used in Salerno stock campains? - Dog Soldier - 05-18-2010 Hope I understand what it is you are asking about.... The Salerno title has three distinct battles in it. Crete 41, Salerno and Anzio. I think you are referring to the QFM OR. If so, I would say it is needed in the Crete scenarios as the FJ just melt under the weight of the CW troops without it. The FJ land in Crete with some units in great shape and other banged up pretty bad. Some are eliminated in the drop some times. For the Salerno and Anzio battles, I would say no to the QFM OR. The Axis forces are in strong defensive positions and hard to dig out. Attacks by the Axis on the Allied beach heads are bloody and costly affairs. These two battles, especially Salerno bogged down into WW1 trench type warfare. There are places on both battlefields where a small clump of hexes changed hands several times during the campaign. These same locations also saw several failed attacks by both sides with nothing but casualties for the attackers. The factory at Anzio comes to mind. the game seems to simulate this well. It is a very tough slog for these two 1943/44 battles. Dog Soldier RE: Ideas for rules to be used in Salerno stock campains? - Mr Grumpy - 05-18-2010 If you are referring to the Salerno campaign scenario the Axis player has a distinct quality advantage in this game with most of his units being B quality while a large number of the Allied troops (and especially the US forces) are D quality (the A quality Commandos/Rangers only make up a tiny part of the Allied force). So IMO the use of the QFM opt rule would skew this scenario the Axis players way. ;) RE: Ideas for rules to be used in Salerno stock campains? - raizer - 05-18-2010 yah you guys answered my question about the QFM-use it in crete-not so much in salerno /anzio |
