Ambushes - Scud - 08-10-2010 How do you like to set up ambushes? What kind of terrain do you look for (forrested bends in the road, for instance)? What kind of platoons, AT, tanks? Op fire on or let them pass and hit from behind? What else? Dave RE: Ambushes - Kool Kat - 08-10-2010 (08-10-2010, 11:25 AM)Scud Wrote: How do you like to set up ambushes? Obviously, ambushes are situational... based on terrain... available units... scenario objectives, etc. But as a rule of thumb... I like to slip fast armored cars that have some decent attack strength (e.g German Pumas)... and maybe one or two halftrack-mounted rifle platoons... behind enemy lines. Forrested bends in the road are nice ambush areas... also town hexes. I set the opt fire on the ACs to "other units" "short range"... so these units will attack and engage unarmored transport (e.g. trucks, tractors). If the ambush area is near a critical road junction, bridge, or other significant terrain feature, that would cause real problems for enemy supply / reinforcement columns... if they did NOT have control of that area... then I might also deploy the accompanying rifle platoons... and prepare to defend / hold that position for several turns. :cool2: |
