civilians, again - Mr. Guberman - 09-15-2010

Back in town, just for a short while. Was trying to figure, how come my game with KKR doesn't work...I sent it to him to try and figure out. C'est la guerre.

Then looking over the OOB's for the early days of the Pacific War...realizing that the unexplainable reasons for "extremely" low Allied morale was undeniably tied to the fact that they, in addition to fighting the Japanese, were also trying to escort "civilians" out of country. For a while, I had forgotten about why I had rated certain units so low in morale. I was buggered...

My, very good friend (and mentor) Huib, once told me that units with a morale of 5 or less, were worthless. I agree, except for the fact that in the Dutch East Indies (and all over the Far East, for that matter), during that time...the military forces were doing so much more than fighting the Japanese.

There has to be a "civilian" counter introduced to CS...to make the early war scens even worth fighting. Not that the Japanese were trying to capture them...but that the Allies were so hard pressed to prevent them from doing so. Fact and true.

Cheers
Curt

Curt:

FYI. There are civilian counters available for scenario design for some OOBs... Look under the platoons section.

Curt:

I did find a "Civilians" platoon unit under the Russian OOB... but did not see it replicated in other OOBs?

I also saw "Village Militia" platoon units scattered about in various OOBs. Maybe these units could be renamed and function like civilians? :chin:

RE: civilians, again - Herr Straße Laufer - 09-17-2010

Mike, Let's see new civilian units. Using the village militia units may change some scenarios that have them in them?

cheers

thanx Ed.

curt
...a civilian unit...would not have an attack value; it may have a defence, of say "1"; leaders might include...Marlene Dietrich...Dutch, American and British wives and children (Annette, James, Bill, Sarah, Molly or "Little Willie")...and etc.

The units "civilian" and "...militia" are not what I am seeking. There is no way to appreciate the early Pacific War...without including them.

[in Europe...God forbid...as they were murdered en masse...]

cheers

...for all of the Germanophilies amongst us...

"murdured en masse"...and in '44, '45...it came back.

Sure don't know what the curiosity is here...'cept for PzIV's and et al...

Get a grip.

It is real, to this day...

cheers
