will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? - Remko van den Berg - 10-20-2010 will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? still have some trouble (usb controllers etc..) with my 2003 pc (windows xp) somehow I've lost the recovery disks. I'm thinking about switching OS to ubuntu and I was wondering whether some has experience with it regards Remko RE: will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? - pawn117 - 10-20-2010 You could give http://www.winehq.org/ a try. First you should make an image of your hard drive. If you don't have any software to make an image of your hard drive try http://partedmagic.com/ or some thing similar. RE: will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? - Scud - 10-20-2010 I've used Fedora, but I seriously doubt CS will run on linux. Love to know for sure, though. My experience with linux is, once you get used to the GUI, it's like any other operating system. Everything is there, but in different places. If not using the GUI, Linux command prompts are similar, but different from DOS as well. Hepls if you know DOS. Linux is fun to play with, but I wouldn't want it for a day-to-day desktop (web hosting being the exception). It's hacked a lot if you don't update, so be forewarned. RE: will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? - pawn117 - 10-21-2010 Have a look at this post on Matrix it may give you some ideas if you try linux. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2162050 RE: will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? - Remko van den Berg - 10-21-2010 thanks guys, that link to the matrix forum looks very promissing regards remko RE: will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? - Scud - 10-21-2010 Let us know how it goes if you try it. I'm really curious. Dave RE: will CS run on OS UBUNTU??? - pawn117 - 10-23-2010 Scud Just remenbered something I read. You could try http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/windows-installer to get a feel for linux. Also have a read of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide Hope this helps you with getting to know linux. I have not used linux much recently but linux has come a long way for desktop users. |
