Hello RKFM.I received your email. Looking forward to a great night of playing JTCS with you.Hopefully more members (someday)will express an interest in playing IP scenarios.

Cheers Pointman.

Thank you for a great afternoon of game play Bob.It was more fun then pbem any day.Anyone in the club that is interested in IP let us know.We would like to see more players involved so we can try out the multi player command system.

Cheers Pointman.

I'm curious, but need to find a spare afternoon. Do you watch as your opponent moves his units? Is there chat? Any problems with lag time?

Hi Scud.Yes,Yes and no.I believe this to be the most stable TCP/IP connection I have used in gaming. We used all rule options on.Recon was paramount in deciding the turn of battle. No glitches no dropouts just a great couple of hours of JTCS.
Why, with so many members, no one but a few play TCP/IP is beyond me, especially with the multi-player command system the game has.I cannot believe the club has not explored this as an avenue to playing tournaments.

But to each his own.

Cheers, Pointman

This is an excellent way of playing the game, truly.

I would do it more if I had the time to do so. Unfortunately, what has turned me off of this avenue of gaming is that I have had one too many opponents that play slow.

I churn out turns very quickly then I am sitting for half an hour waiting on my opponent. One can't really multitask in case you miss something during the turn, which is the advantage of the replay - it is usually over in a minute or two.

I would also like to add we used ICQ as a com link to exchange info while we set up game parameters. We also left ICQ on as a backup chat in case of disconnect. We only used it once during game because I during a moment of wisdom accidentlly disconnected myself and ended up back at the menu.I typed back in the IP #'s and bam! I was back with no problems and finnished my turn.Any other IP platform would have had us re-start the game. The game also supports a save which I have never seen in IP play before.Matrix has really done a great job here and deserves a medal Thank You Matrix.Oh and thanks guys for promotion I salute you all :)

Cheers, Pointman.

Hi Jason. Use the game timer it will end all slow player problems.

Yes, the game with Pointman went off well. No probs with connection etc.

Made it feel like the old days, spending an hour or two with a friend playing a wargame on the dining room table!

I'll never go back to PBEM.

To Jason: I imagine there could be a long wait in a more complex scenario, but I didn't find it too bad. In fact it was kind of tense in some ways! Plus it gives you time to plan your next move.
