Walrus Models - Walrus - 12-10-2010 HI All I have been having a go at the modelling thing for just over a year now. I am slowly getting better. Here's a few pics... 1/72 Revell hawker Hurricane IIc SEAC 1/72 Italeri JU-87 Stuka 1/72 Academy F-86F Sabre Thanks for looking RE: Walrus Models - wigam - 12-11-2010 Hurricane looks good, but you had me at the Sabre, one of my favorites. RE: Walrus Models - Vesku - 12-11-2010 What gets me every time is the fine details like the signs of life on the Stuka, superb mate! RE: Walrus Models - Walrus - 12-12-2010 Thanks guys These are older ones for me. First attempts at weathering. I like all these aircraft. I have a wee Mig 15 in the stash to pair up with that Sabre. I have some extras for that kit and hope to do better than the Sabre. I like getting the competing aircraft of an era...like Spit and 109. I painted the yellow and black stripes rather than use the decals. It was not easy getting the fuselage one to work...still doubtful that it did :conf: It's a fun wee hobby. Thanks for looking and the kind comments RE: Walrus Models - Antoni Chmielowski - 12-12-2010 They are excellent ! But with a thread title like that I was thinking they may have been pictures of you ! :):) RE: Walrus Models - Walrus - 12-12-2010 Ha ha! Oh man...you wouldn't have wanted to click on the thread if you thought that's what was happening. Bloody scary! RE: Walrus Models - Iwo Jim - 12-12-2010 Jason Nice job on the bare metal finishes on the Sabre and the Jug, what product are you using? I've got a 1/48 F-84 kit I've been thinking about building but I've never tried any of the metal finishes RE: Walrus Models - Walrus - 12-12-2010 Hi Jim Thanks for the kind words. I used Citadel (Games workshop) metals. They are Acrylics and I cut them with either water, IPA or Lacquer thinners, whatever you prefer. I know that some prefer the Alclads range, but they are very fumy and I have no real ventilation so the acrylics are much friendlier for me to airbrush. The Citadel metals are made for hand painting warhammer stuff and are very thick (therefore good value)...but they thin down very well and go on, and clean up a treat. I thin about 20 / 80 paint to thinnners....s I said, they are very thick. I have three different shades, Mithril silver, Chainmail and Boltgun, which is enough to get a few different panels happening. Good luck! |
