This forum is dead as a doorknob! - jonnymacbrown - 05-25-2011 I'm going to have to liven things up a bit! But it means assaulting the so called "Historical" scenarios in HPS Waterloo. Shall I? jonny :whis: RE: This forum is dead as a doorknob! - Al Amos - 05-25-2011 go for it. RE: This forum is dead as a doorknob! - FM WarB - 05-26-2011 I'm waiting (not holding my breath) for an update to Campaign Waterloo so I can update my Campaign Waterloo scenarios. Look at them for my opinions on the stock scenarios' historical accuracy. RE: This forum is dead as a doorknob! - jagerfury - 06-01-2011 I just tried to load my Battleground 3:Waterloo on my windows 7 laptop. No go. Is there a decent thread on this? If I get it running I would challenge you to a game :) RE: This forum is dead as a doorknob! - agmoss99 - 06-02-2011 If you are referring to the original Talonsoft version I'm afraid it won't work with Win 7. I tried. Hard. You have to bite the bullet and buy the Matrix version which buys you a new start.exe and that's all. Oh and buy the disk version if you do, the digital download version won't work if you transfer to a disk later. No go. Is there a decent thread on this? If I get it running I would challenge you to a game :) The HPS game maps are not as nice graphically as the Talonsoft/Matrix one (IMO). The buildings, villages, and chateaus on the HPS 2D maps are confusing as there is nothing to really visually distinguish one from the other. You have to check each hex to determine what it is. I'm playing Sevastopol in NRC right now, and you literally have to 'test' (using an infantry unit) each hexside along the city wall to determine whether it can be crossed or not. I prefer the HPS games for mechanics and variety, but their artwork needs help. RE: This forum is dead as a doorknob! - agmoss99 - 07-13-2011 Sevastopol???? Do you mean Smolensk? Yes, I have had similar problems with that scenario I have to say. It's as much a problem for the defender as the attacker there as well. Yes, sorry, wrong war... RE: This forum is dead as a doorknob! - FM WarB - 07-15-2011 I use a 2D graphics file mod that makes seeing walls easy. The presence of High walls and forts along the same hexes in some cases obscure the walls a bit, though. Why do you need high walls and forts along the same hexside anyway? |
