CS Problem - Creating & Editing Maps - Kool Kat - 11-28-2011 Gents: :smoke: I am experiencing map resolution / display issues when I create or modify maps. I will click on a map hex and the image will "jump" 1-2 hexes. It's like my cursor is over a "different" hex than what is displayed! I have to constantly "click" on every map hex for it to display correctly. Also, when I enable "map labels" and try to position the label over a specific hex... the label will actually display 5 - 10 hexes away from the position my cursor is on! Obviously, this phenomena makes modifying or creating new maps nearly impossible! But, I experience no map resolution / display issues when either playing or modifying existing scenarios! I recently (last two weeks) upgraded from a Windows XP to Windows 7 PC. Here's what I am running: Lenovo T420 Laptop (4GB Memory) + i5-2520 M CPU (2.5GHz) Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system 1600 x 900 screen resolution (I've tried adjusting the resolution to both 1280 x 720 and 800 x 600, but still have the described resolution issues) Not sure if my PC and / or CS display settings need adjustment? :chin: Any help or suggestions on what different PC settings I can try would be greatly appreciated! :) Also, posted an identical thread over on the Matrix Forums. RE: CS Problem - Creating & Editing Maps - Scud - 11-28-2011 What happens with 1024 x 768? Same thing? Or even 640 x 480? Dave RE: CS Problem - Creating & Editing Maps - Crossroads - 11-28-2011 This seems to be a "feature" some of the Windows 7 systems experience, but not all. I had the same issue from the sound of it, ie. only having this issue with Map Editor, but not with JTCS itself or Scenario Editor, even with same exact map file giving me problems in Map editor. For me, the simple resolution was to disable desktop composition as mentioned in this thread: https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=56957&highlight=windows+7 Edit: To be precise: "'In Vista™ if you experience an issue with the scrolling refresh during the game please go to the Properties of each shortcut and put a check in the box next to “Disable desktop composition” to resolve this issue'. " It resolved my W7 issues with Map Editor. Seems to be a Vista/W7 64 bit issue? Hope this helps! RE: CS Problem - Creating & Editing Maps - Kool Kat - 11-28-2011 BK: :smoke: Thank you for your reference and link! I had "partial" success... as I performed the following: Campaign Series > right click > Compatibility > click "Disable Desktop Composition" The strange map resolution / display issues have stopped so when I move my cursor around in the Map Editor, all hexes and terrain features remain the same.... and in the same hex... no distortion. However, when I attempt to add a label, the label will still display 5 - 10 hexes away from the position my cursor is on! Hopefully, one more step? :chin: Any additional suggestions? RE: CS Problem - Creating & Editing Maps - Crossroads - 11-28-2011 Glad to learn the distortion problem was solved! Sorry, no idea about labels... It must be a completely another problem? I have noticed they are a bit tricky to put to the proper hex. Are you sure the right hex is selected before you try to add a label? |
