winSPMBT - Command, Control & Rally - Shahadi - 01-29-2012 What effect upon a unit's rally is attributed to command? In a platoon, does a sargeant have the same effect upon rally as say a lieutenant or captain? In the command structure of winSpMBT do companies provide the rally and control ability over platoons? Or, can a platoon commanded by an officer rally with same effect as if commanded by HQ or a company? Does a platoon led by a sargeant rally to the same degree as if led by an officer or the company that it is attached? Does command, control and rally follow a scheme such as the following: hq -> company -> platoon where platoon rally is effected by control of an attached company or hq unit? If so, do sargeants rally platoons or only officers? Let us say a platoon is attached to hq, and commanded by a sargeant, will that unit rally as effectively as if commanded by an attached company? RE: winSPMBT - Command, Control & Rally - Weasel - 01-29-2012 To sum up your question: Rallying is done from top to bottom as long as the unit in question is in range. So battalion CO will attempt to rally units first, once he fails then it goes to the company CO, then platoon CO and finally sqd leader. The rank of the leader does not have a real effect, his rally rating is the key and also you want to ensure units are kept within range. The coy CO must be in range of the btn co, and the plt co must be in range of the coy co, and sqd co in range of plt co. Units attached to an organization will use that CO rally ability and then down the line as above; but if you have a sqd from platoon A mixed in with a platoon B (just mixed in, not attached) the platoon B CO will not rally the sqd A, it will only use the sqd rally ability. I am not sure of the ranges, but I believe the Btn CO has a range of 6-10, Coy CO 6 -8, plt CO of 4-5. I think it is listed in the manual. RE: winSPMBT - Command, Control & Rally - roman - 01-29-2012 I think the reach of command depends on whether radio is available or not. If radio is not available, the range is only for voice and is up to 250 meters or less. RE: winSPMBT - Command, Control & Rally - Gila - 01-29-2012 Keep in mind a unit out of contact can only rally it's self, very doubtfull if already suppressed or worse. If no radio then depends on LOS if greater than 250 m (shouting distance) of the 0 unit, then it will be out of contact and gets no other rally benefit (a sitting duck) unable to fire or move if unable to rally it's self. To be safe i'd never go more than 200 m from the 0 desinated (leader) of a formation ,and keep in mind if the 0 unit gets severly suppressed then you lose any help from it so they should be not front line units and protected somewhat. This is why having the cd version(and the 5 key feature which shows formations id's clearly) and thier relative distance from their CO's, is so very important. With just the free download ver. C&C and rally is just a mess,, esp. so with large battles. RE: winSPMBT - Command, Control & Rally - Vesku - 01-31-2012 The command range without radio is 5 hexes, try to keep units within that range from their commander. |
