Combat Commander Series by GMT - Compass Rose - 06-25-2012 I'm looking for info about the GMT Combat Commander series. http://www.gmtgames.com/c-8-combat-commander.aspx Does anyone own or have played any of the games in the series? If so, what did you think of it? RE: Combat Commander Series by GMT - Richie61 - 04-02-2014 Well I score a brand new version locally of Combat Commander for $20 and picked it up to save the shipping. Now I have a brand new version of Combat Commander: Mediterranean just released and Combat Commander: Battle Pack #2 – Stalingrad is coming Fed X this week. Fun title! The cards really make the game interesting and a game can go either way till the very end

RE: Combat Commander Series by GMT - Richie61 - 06-16-2014 We now have 5 of the games/ modules and MAN is this a great series! They added tank rules in "Fall of The West", but we haven't got to that part yet. I am really surprised at how well this game series plays and how the card system plays! 
RE: Combat Commander Series by GMT - Domfluff - 09-12-2014 Combat Commander is a fantastic series. A very playable game, and it does a fair job of simulation. You can see how it's essentially Advanced Squad Leader + Up Front, and some of the design decisions seems as though they lean towards "how ASL did it", rather than trying to simulate from the ground up. Games last about two hours, which is a perfect length of time, and it does a decent job with the subject matter. From same designer, "Fighting Formations" follows the Panzergrenadier Division Grossdeutschland into (and out of!) the Eastern Front, at a significantly larger scale (Usually, one counter = 1 platoon, not 1 squad/team). This has a similar feel, but uses more "euro" mechanics to represent command and control. Plenty of tanks, of course. It's a longer game, but of similar complexity.
