Problem installing Campaign Jena-Auerstaedt - Mesquite - 01-30-2013

Well, I just bought the game and I guess I screwed up on installing it. I have Windows 8 and when I inserted the disk and started the installment process everything at first seemed ok, but then when the installment bar came up nothing happened for awhile and so I thought I'd start over. Stopped the installation and then tried to restart. I get as far as it asking me if I want to install the game and then nothing. I found that the start menu had the game there as if it was installed and the directories were created on the drive, but they were empty. I deleted all that and looked in the registry and found keys for the game and deleted them. Still the game won't install. I'm thinking that something is telling the install program that the game is already installed and so it quits. Anyone know what it could be?

You can't use the default instal directory the game tries to use with Windows Vista or higher. Look on the HpS site, and you will find accurate instructions on how to do this. Basically you will have to create a new folder on you hard drive and redirect the instal to that location.
Hope this helps. Here is the link http://www.hpssims.com/vistahelp.htm

Yeah, I install all of HPS games to the c:\Hps folder. I've had no trouble installing any other HPS games. the computer just hiccupped on this install and I interrupted it. I think now when I try to install it there's something on the computer telling the install program the game is already installed although it isn't. I've contacted HPS support and still waiting for a reply.

Try deleting all the old folders the install created and see if that helps.
