CMBB B&T Izyum Diet Plan AAR - Greg V. Hill - 04-06-2013 CMBB: B&T Izyum Diet Plan: This scenario has great potential but is fatally flawed because the Soviet briefing tells you to cross the river and attack up the hill on the enemy's side of the river which- I correctly deduced- would have gotten me slaughtered. My briefing said that if I couldn't achieve that, I should seize and hold the two bridges across the river. Had I attempted to do that, not only would I most probably have failed to hold the bridges but I would have been leaving the flags on my side of the river vulnerable to panzer counterattack from the many covered points at which the Germans may ford the river. Contrary to the briefing, I knew my priority (for winning on points) was to hang onto the flags on my side of the river. So, the problem is that the objective flags don't coincide with the briefing objectives. This could be a much, much better scenario if the flags are placed on the two bridges. Then the reasonably well-balanced sides would really be forced into a battle to acquire and hang onto the bridges. If this is fixed (a very simple fix) this could be a very good scenario with no confusion over what the object of the scenario is supposed to be. Thanks, Greg ps. I'm new to this site and it is requested that we post comments on the games we play but I haven't been sure if that means here in AAR land or in voting on the scenario, or both. I think it would be helpful to the designers and potential players if more people would do it without giving away anything vital. RE: CMBB B&T Izyum Diet Plan AAR - kineas - 04-06-2013 Welcome to the Blitz. I remember that scenario, played it in a mirrored PBEM. I didn't like it very much, it's prone to stalemates I think. You just don't have the force ratio to attack over a river, on open terrain in a meeting game. In both of our games the side which tried to attack lost on points at the end. btw are we in the Campaign Series forum? :) RE: CMBB B&T Izyum Diet Plan AAR - Herr Straße Laufer - 04-06-2013 Hello Mr. Hill. Welcome to The Blitz. Mr. Kineas is correct, you are in the wrong ladder forum. This is the area for John Tillers Campaign Series AAR's. You need to post this in: https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards/forumdisplay.php?fid=35 You will find many opponents for CM on their ladder and in their forum. HSL RE: CMBB B&T Izyum Diet Plan AAR - Big Ivan - 04-06-2013 Hello Mr. Hill, What HSL says is true. But to build on that I'll extend a welcome also and say that if you ever want to try the Campaign Series there are a lot of folks here who love to play CS with a passion! You can always find an opponent or just sit down at this forum, meet new friend and just talk about CS. Cheers! Ivan the Big |
