Great History - K K Rossokolski - 05-18-2013

Some years ago, I bought Rick Atkinson's "An Army at Dawn", which examined the final phase of the North African largely from the perspective of the raw, rapidly expanding United States Army, and its first experience of European war, although at no stage is the role of the British Army neglected. It is a magisterial work, written as narrative history by a master craftsman of the English language. I am now well into the second volume-"The Day of Battle"- of what he calls the Liberation Trilogy. This outstanding work covers the Italian Campaign, from the invasion of Sicily to the fall of Rome, and from what I have read so far, is at least the equal of "An Army at Dawn".
I understand the third volume- "The Guns at Last Light"- is now published. I can't wait to read it.
Put these at the top of your reading wants list.

I agree. Mine came in the mail the other day along with volume 2 of Barbarossa Derailed about Smolensk.

I have lots of reading to do.

Jim
