The Grand Campaign : Moscow '42 - close - Wolf Petr - 08-04-2013

Hello! Im just finish explore of this huge camp. scn. and looking for axis opponent to play allone with me!
Scn. : #1206_01 Grand Campaign : Moscow '42, December 6th, 1941 to February 15th, 1942
Side: you play Axis
Rules: default + counterbattery fire + delayed disruption
Turn rate: no hurry, but ideal one per week. No matter - its game for many months! Big Grin

Prefer default rules only for the campaigns.
Counterbattery fire might skew the game over this long campaign game, however I don't know which side this would favour.
Is delayed disruption a default rule, if not then we might have a trade-off.

No problem, maybe just as well it's a huge undertaking.

Delayed disruption is not a default OR in M42. The design team is leaning toward people using it. It prevents the Germans from gaining an edge with pinpoint accuracy knowing which Russian units are disrupted by their fire. DD OR will make that less efficient. The Russians have to assault in the winter scenarios a lot, so DD OR does not penalize them so much.

In the summer scenarios DD OR really helps the Russian defense slow done the Germans breaking through the bunker lines. Every so often (under the DD OR) the Germans might make a miscalculation and suffer severe losses assaulting a bunker. This evens things out as the Russians have a hard time containing the Germans in the open if they do not injure them significantly as the Germans work they through the tough bunker defenses.

This forum contains a good discussion of the effect of the DD OR in M42. I was started by razier, IIRC.

I think that for the most part the Delayed Disruption is a good rule for PzC campaign scenarios. The shorter scenarios suffer a bit from it because they have been balanced to a specific number of turns, but in a campaign it can help keep both sides guessing a bit. Very interesting! :)
