The Great War in America - New Scenario - HerrDak - 10-28-2013

Greetings:

Im currently working in a "What if" Scenario about an American Front during the Great War.

In this What If Scenario, General Victoriano Huerta overthrow President Madero in 1913 and successfully put a quick end to the Mexican Revolution with almost no material damage to the country.

For the next 4 Years General Huerta Militarize the Mexican Society (Indeed he did during his government), grow the Federal Army from 30,000 men to 250,000 men (300,000 with support forces) because the tensions with the USA and aproach the German Empire (like he did historically).

The German Empire (involved in the Great War) will soon begin with the unrestricted submarine warfare, and sends the infamous "Zimmerman Telegram" to General Huerta. The british intercept the Telegram and send them to the Americans. President Woodrow Wilson use this as a Casus Belli to declare war to México.

With the American declaration of war, México accepts the German Alliance proposal and Officially joins the Central Powers and the North American Front is open.

During the War, Guatemala could join the Allies side to get back Chiapas (a former territory taken by México), and of course, by American pressure through the United Fruit Company. If Guatemala declares war, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador, will declare war to Guatemala to overthrow the President Estrada Cabrera (EL Salvador try it, by invading Guatemala in 1903) and then form the Major Central American Republic (besides, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua are the traditional Mexican Allies in Central America).

Colombia could be bribe by the Central Powers to declare war to the United States and take back Panama.

Also, I can make some events to simulate the Mexican negociations with the Japanese Empire to convince them to join the Central Powers (At the time Mexican-Japanese relations where very good, they where teaming up to stop the USA influence, and besides, the Zimmerman Telegram Ask México to initiate conversations with Japan).

Scenario information:

Factions: (so far).

Allies:
1. United States of America.
2. Guatemala.

Central Powers:
1. México.
2. Nicaragua.
3. Honduras.
4. El Salvador.
5. Colombia.

Scale:

Hex size: 30km Hex.
Unit size: Regiment (but it could change to brigade level).
Turns: Full week Turns.

I made from scratch a North America map and already get the Mexican Federal Army (at his peak during the Mexican Revolution) and USA WWI OOB. Im having a hard time getting the Central American countries OOB, but its not an impossible task...

I open this Thread to show the scenario advances and get some help and tips to improve the scenario.

Hope the community likes.

The map is a litte more advanced now, Mexican terrain is finish, Im looking to make the map the most accurate as possible.

Here is the type of units the Mexican Federal Army will have: (This is the original regimental organization of the Mexican Army at the time).

Infantry Regiment:

This are hard men with decent training, some units (especially the North Divisions) are veterans because where involved in fights that stop the revolution. Their main armament is the Mauser 98.

Cavalry Regiment:

As the regular infantry regiments, the training of this units is fairly decent.

Explorer Cavalry Regiment:

Regiment with light armament with the main function to detect the enemy advance and movement.

Campaign Artillery Regiment:

The Main Artillery of the Mexican Army is the Saint Chamond-Mondragón, a 75mm Cannon designed by the Mexican General Manuel Mondragón and produced by the French Industry St. Chamond.

Mountain Artillery Regiment:

This are more numerous in the army, the main equip of this regiments are the schneider-canet howitzers 75 and 80mm

Machine Gun Regiment:

This Support Regiments have Machienguns at his disposition and are great for defense. They main armament are the french Hotchkiss Mle 1914.

Brigadas de los Supremos Poderes (Supreme Powers Brigades):

This two brigades (Infantry and Cavalry) are the elite of the Mexican Army. They have high training and are armed with the "Fusil Porfirio Díaz Sistema Mondragón Modelo 1908". The First Semi-automatic Rifle in the world.

State Militia Regiments:

In case of Foreign Invasion, the different states of the republic can rise Militia Regiments to defend the Fatherland. This Regiments are of medium/poor quality (depend of the state) and are commanded by the "Segunda Reserva Officers", civilians that have military training and are called to arms only in case of foreign invasion.

Leva Regiments: *This are not part of the Official Army Organization, but are included to reflect the state of the troops in a prolonged conflict.

When the war is going really bad, the government begins with the compulsory enlistment of citizens for the national defense. This regiments are composed by boys, old people, peasants, etc. This Regiments have low fighting spirit and mediocre training.

Rural Police Corps:

This are small corps distributed among the Republic to keep order, they know pretty well the terrain and can be excelent explorer troops. Can also be used to make ambushes to isolated units.
