Hmm, the bte itself should not cause a crash unless; 1. The file is corrupted (which can happen with an unzipped file). 2. You downloaded the file into the wrong folder. But yes, zipping the file makes it more secure. However, not zipping the file, in and of itself, does not cause crashes. Now I have played a few scenarios where me and my opponent were playing a game...but we didn't realize we had two different versions of the same scenario. That can cause a lot of different types of errors. It's probably just a corrupted file - ask him to zip it and resend - hopefully you should be ok. RE: Read This - zap - 11-05-2013 That's funny I've been sending bte files for years now. None of my opponents have experienced what you mentioned. Though I have made the mistake at times not to end a turn. So they get the error message. RE: Read This - Infantrysoldier223 - 11-05-2013 This was my first time this happened to me. RE: Read This - Dan Caviness - 11-21-2013 My 1 cent on top of your two says zipping files for PBEM is ALWAYS a good idea. It helps keep the file from getting corrupted. I've never seen a move file crash my game...only fail to work...usually giving me a black screen... Unzipped files have done this...and zipped...if memory serves...have not. It's not going to hurt to zip a move file...and it shows you care enough to send the very best... Regards, Dan |
