Important info for Internet Explorer 8 (or older) users! - Mr Grumpy - 02-25-2014 With the latest version of the Blitz site about to be launched we are informing members that if you are viewing the site using Internet Explorer 8 or older then you will need to either update to a newer version (i.e. version 9 to 11) or if you cannot do that (in the case of members with XP PC's) then you will need to use another web browser to view the site like FireFox or Google Chrome. Any questions please about this subject please post on this thread. RE: Important info for Internet Explorer 8 (or older) users! - Outlaw Josey Wales - 02-25-2014 Are you saying XP won't support anything higher than eight? Also, why going to a latest version of the Blitz? What is wrong with this one? I'm still if it ain't broke, don't fix it, KISS method kind of guy. Explanation would be appreciated. Also, when is this going to happen? RE: Important info for Internet Explorer 8 (or older) users! - Richie61 - 02-25-2014 FireFox is a better browser and more secure than ie It's free too http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ Import Bookmarks from Internet Explorer http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-internet-explorer PS: It's a very KISS program too RE: Important info for Internet Explorer 8 (or older) users! - Mr Grumpy - 02-26-2014 (02-25-2014, 12:18 PM)Outlaw Josey Wales Wrote: Are you saying XP won't support anything higher than eight? Yes, I am sorry but if you want to view the new site with an XP PC you cannot use Internet explorer as your browser because you cannot update it above version 8 on the XP OS. In fact by using IE8 you are at risk when surfing the net as that version is no longer supported and hence is not as secure as the latest versions. I was in the same situation, so I downloaded Firefox (for free) and used that with no problems at all. The site has to be updated periodically to keep abreast of new technology and security features as well as making the site easier for the officers to admin, there will also be many new improved features, but the forum area will remain the same. The new site may be up and running in the next week or so. |
