Panzer Campaigns on a Mac - Many Mariuses - 05-17-2014

One of my wargaming buddies has expressed interest in playing Panzer Campaigns, but he only has a Mac. I know that the HPS website recommends a particular program, Parallels, but it is rather pricey.

Does anyone here play on a Mac? Any recommendations? If anyone is using Parallels, does it require the user to also purchase a copy of Windows?

To run any windows application on a Mac one has two options.
1. Use Bootcamp. This requires partitioning the hard drive and installing Windows on one of the partitions. The one can boot either into Windows or OS/X.
2. Use virtualization software such as Parallels or VMware. Non technically speaking, tHis allows one to run Windows as an application on OS/X. The are debates about which virtualization software is better. Caveat emptor.

As a Mac user i prefer not to pollute my system with Windows. And now that my old PC just crashed, I am probably going to buy a cheap laptop and dedicate it it these games.
