Using the Forfeit Option when recording a game... - TheBigRedOne - 04-20-2015 I wanted to clarify the usage of the Forfeit option when it comes to recording a game on the ladder. In general, the only time that this option should be used would be when someone abandons a game and basically never bothers to tell his opponent. At this point after a few weeks have passed with no contact, a player can go ahead and take the game as a forfeit from their opponent. If you are playing a game and someone's situation changes that they can no longer continue to play, and they tell you about the situation and to simply go ahead and register a win, it is considered to be conceding a game and the opponent can claim a major win on the ladder. Forfeits should be rare, and the ladder commanders should be part of the process. If someone vanishes, contact the ladder commander to let him know the situation. If EMAILs are sent out to find the person, CC the commander so he knows what's going on. I'd also recommend making a board posting trying to get the attention of the individual who may have gone missing. Covers all of your bases so that someone doesn't cry foul if you register the forfeit. |
