South Korean Order of Battle - Jim von Krieg - 12-29-2015 Anyone out there have good reference material or a website that looks at the South Korean military from the Korean War until today? I have a few things on the origins pre-Korean War and during the war. However, I need some post-war and Vietnam material as well. Thanks, Jim RE: South Korean Order of Battle - PoorOldSpike - 12-30-2015 This article summarises today's South Korean forces and how they compare to North Korea's. Basically Nth Korea's armed forces are bigger, but it's mostly obsolete equipment- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/11603665/North-Korea-v-South-Korea-How-the-countries-armed-forces-compare.html Excerpt- "North Korea’s armed forces might be immense, but their weapons and equipment are largely obsolete. On paper, the Stalinist state’s air force possesses 563 combat-capable aircraft; in reality, every one of these planes was grounded for a short period in 2014 thanks to problems with maintenance and serviceability. North Korea remains reliant on a predominantly obsolescent equipment inventory across all three services, is the verdict of the International Institute for Strategic Studies." |
