PzC File - Strange Behavior - Kool Kat - 02-20-2016

Gents:  Smoke7

When I click the "Next Turn" icon in a PBeM scenario ("Salerno Campaign" - Salerno 43), some of my Allied units will move autonomously. In some instances, the units will switch to "Travel Mode" before moving a few hexes!  Yikes

My opponent and I have played over 25 turns in the Salerno Campaign scenario without any issues. I am also playing another Salerno 43 scenario (Crete Campaign) with a different opponent and have not experienced any problems. I am also playing another PBeM campaign scenario ("Dry Feet Campaign" - Sicily 43) and have no issues with the game turn files.

I have reinstalled the Salerno 43 game and have asked my opponent to verify on his end that he is not experiencing any strange file behavior.

Update - My opponent replied and suggested that I may have mistakenly activated the AI during my Allied game turn. I will verify game settings during the next PBeM turn exchange.

Could the issue be a corrupted game turn file? If so, how do you correct it?

I have Salerno 43 installed on a HP laptop (6GB RAM) running Windows 10 (64-bit OS).

Note - this file strange behavior "may" have started following a recent Windows 10 update. I am not sure because I did not immediately associate a Microsoft update with this problem.

Gents - any recommendations on how to correct this issue?  Idea2

Can't say I've heard of that issue before.

The units that are moving "on their own", are they units who already used up all of their movement points, in that same turn, or are they units who still have remaining movement points, that were not already used up?

The affected units have remaining movement points. Again, not all units with remaining movement points move autonomously. This issue impacts approximately 3-5 units per turn. The phenomena appears to impact random nationalities and unit types when the "Next Turn" icon is clicked. For example, one turn it may be British or American units. Also, it will be different types of units -  HQ, infantry, or armor units that move on their own.

I had this issue long ago and had activated AI orders by mistake. You can check your AI dialogue box and delete them if it happened.

Mike you set a formation ai order. That means you had a unit highlighted and ctrl clicked on a hex. No corruption. To remove look under ai orders in the menu and you should see them somewhere in there. Sorry not at home to give step by step instructions.

By the way when the orders were set one or more large arrows should have appeared on the map.

Mystery solved! Big Grin

And yes, I did see several large arrows that appeared on the map when the units moved autonomously.

Thank You Sign very much Ricky!

Easy to do, still do it sometimes after many years in the Tillerverse, but fortunately easy to get out of once you know how.
