Victory locations and points - pontaeus - 10-21-2016

Are victory locations all-or-nothing situations in CM x 2? Does the amount of terrain you've covered in a victory location matter? In other words, if you've advanced and "own" 75% does it secure you more points versus occupying a smaller portion? Do you have to entirely clear the location of enemy troops? Can a shot-up tank crew cleverly hiding in the corner of a victory location deprive the other side of points?
Thanks for any information on this subject.

I take it you are coming from a CM1x background.  In CM2x occupy victory locations are handled differently.  To score the points you have to have total control over them.  Touch objectives give you the points as soon as your guys set foot on the location.

No you either get all the points if you rid the area of your enemy and have your own guys on it or you get none of the

Thanks Canadian Cat - one final question. When you mentioned touch objectives, "give you points once your guys set foot on the location" - does that mean you rack up points over time? Each turn you occupy a VL you get some points or are all points calculated at the end of the game only?
Best,

No, you only get points from touch objectives when your units first set foot on the location. There are also preserve and destroy terrain objectives but those are less common. Check out page 17 of the CM 3.0 engine manual for a full list.
