Battle of Morhange 20 August 1914 - Hoplite1963 - 04-10-2017

Hi All
Here is the final version of my Battle of Morhange  20 August 1914  scenario. Not yet figured where or how to place in in the scenario listings for the Great War mod so thought I would post it hear to be going on with. Just unzip into the main game directory.

At the start of the war as  part of France's plan XVII General de Castelnau's Second Army advanced into Lorraine towards Morhange. On 20th August the German 6 Armee struck back attacking from the north with several Army Korps at once. This scenario (which is based on the one of the same name from the "Great War Spearhead II", "Marching to War" scenario booklet covers the attack of the German XXI Army Korps on the French 39e Infantry division.  This game should be played with the "Indirect Fire By Map" and "Extreme Fog Of War" rules options turned on

As the battle took place in summer it would have been fully light when  XXI Korps launched its attack around 6am. however at that  stage the battle field was shrouded in thick mist which helped to conceal the advance of the German infantry but also greatly hindered their artillery preparation.  As programmed changes in visibility range are not present in the version of the JT CS engine used to make the Great War mod I have used the "dawn attack" option in the editor to give low visibility in the early turns which generally starts to lift around game turn 9 or so.

Detailed information for the orders of battle and terrain comes from "The First Battle of the First World War:" Edited by Terence Zuber, the "France 1914" PC game produced by HPS and the  Nafziger collection of World War 1 orders of battle.

Enjoy
Ian

If you don't upload it to the database, no one who plays it can report games. Just FYI. Do you not know how? The input boxes for uploading scenarios is pretty easy. The hard part is figuring out the size modifier, but there's a calculator that will help you figure it out.
