Video: Receiving End of Artillery - Captain Al - 08-22-2017 Even though this is US Civil War artillery, it gives a great feel for the potential accuracy and terrifying sound/impact.  Assume Napoleonic would be similar.  Can certainly understand why units rout under artillery fire.
