Some new CS screenshots - Crossroads - 09-03-2017

Good day commanders,

I posted a couple of new screenshots of the new 3D Zoom-in view at the Matrix CSME forum, and thought to post them here as well.

So without further ado, here's how the new 3D Zoom-in will be available in CSME 2.0, an then on all new CS games thereafter.

This is the French convoy in Algeria, from The Long Road Home. They've got some distance to cover, here.

And here's the Jordanian tankers, from Picnic at Tel al Ful.

After trying out various options the best outcome was achieved with scaling the terrain to 150% while using  the unit miniature models 100%  size for that view. The old 100% has now units that are scaled down a bit to achieve the same scale as here. As a result, the units are spread out more evenly, even when you have lots of units stacked to same hex.

Now, securing that hamlet looks more like a proper tactical challenge, don't you think?

What else, while I am at this... How about the new 2D option to have the 3D unit images on counters. With them, armor facing is a natural with boardgame view as well:

But back to 3D views which are the star of the day. Here's the current Zoom-out view. The maps have become larger in a positive manner, there's much more space around:

Wow, nice!

RE: Some new CS screenshots - RedDevil - 09-04-2017

Man, this stuff ROCKS!
I ONLY hope that the map editor is mucho streamlined and more easily adaptive to allowing us to make large maps quickly and easily.
The OOB editor had better be immaculate BTW... Jason... LOL

I want to make some scenarios up for the GROGS of the game (you know who you are) that will cause throat slitting and some of the best sailor cursing ever heard by passerbys on a clear day with the windows open...

Can't wait

And I will toss my lot in to help testing or whatever is needed.

RE: Some new CS screenshots - Dan Caviness - 09-08-2017

Beautiful work and much appreciated.
Being a 3D zoom in whore this has rekindled my lust for the CS ME game.

Any thought to providing a 2D zoom mode?
One more level of magnification would make 2D more useable.

I realize that's not a trivial task...just curious.

Regards,

Dan
