Update on Game Design Process - Sgt_Rock - 09-24-2017 Its been three months since I made a post on the update of the current game project I am working on. Here are items that I finished in that time: All campaigns are done. The Situation Maps found in the main folder that illustrate the campaigns in the game. All scenarios for the main folder are done. I added in 20 of the campaign scenarios to the main folder as stand alone battles you can choose from the main menu. There are currently 5 Bonus scenarios. Napoleon fights in two of them. All charts are finished to include an updated Weapons Effectiveness Chart, Turn Tracks and others. The "Armies" PDF which is a pictorial showcase of Joe Amoral's artwork (and Mark Adam's touch ups) is done. Its got over 200 images. The designer notes is finished. Scenario and campaign list just needs some updates and it will be finished. All maps are done. My list has shrunk down to about five items. I am waiting on the 3D, terrain and leader images and then I can work on the Getting Started PDF as well as the product webpage. I will submit a scenario list to Compass Rose shortly before the game is ready to go out so that the club database is updated and ready to go once you have your game. Really excited about this one. With 27 battles to choose from I doubt that you will run out of battles to play for some time. RE: Update on Game Design Process - Jagger - 09-24-2017 So can I slot this one in as my Christmas present to myself? RE: Update on Game Design Process - Sgt_Rock - 09-24-2017 Well if the sky dont fall and the creek dont rise ... yes LOL RE: Update on Game Design Process - Compass Rose - 09-25-2017 RE: Update on Game Design Process - Xaver - 09-26-2017 Nice, Marengo needs his brother to be completed. I am curious if you are thinking in your next baby... even if is not napi PD: a little question, the title is going to use the old art or we are going to see the new art showed for CW serie??? i refer to counters and 3D terrain. RE: Update on Game Design Process - Sgt_Rock - 10-01-2017 The ACW series (I assume you mean Petersburg) is being done by an independent team. I am working with John Tiller Software's artwork team. The artwork is really great for this game. Lots of unique images for the hussars for instance. Many variations of the National Guard units. I have not seen the latest terrain updates that our team is working on. I just know that most folks go looking for a Mod anyway once the game comes out. Its impossible to please everyone when it comes to graphics because everyone has such different tastes in how the artwork should look. I work on the historical part of the game. The only artwork I am involved in is the Situation PDFs that you see in the main folder and the campaign image maps that you see in the campaign front end. The ACW guys did some great work on adding in color units. Frankly the 3D maps for the Petersburg game didnt really interest me. I much preferred the old Battleground hand painted maps. But its nice that they are giving the customers the option of two 3D maps. This time around I put in a bid for the old B&W leader images to be replaced with color versions. Joe Amoral is taking about 60 B&W leader images and making a color picture for each. I was really impressed with his image for GB Boudet of the French army. I started adding in color images back in the Austerlitz game (or it might have been Leipzig). I am happy to say that this next game will have a nice variety of unit images. Whereas Marengo about about 60 images this game has over 240! I went overboard this time around but I know its going to be worth it. I am enjoying playtesting the battles and learning to pick out the individual hussar regiments by their colors .. instead of having ONE hussar image per Nation. RE: Update on Game Design Process - Xaver - 10-03-2017 Thanks for the reply. Well, from my modding experience with counters you can use ACW-Nap-EAW counters at same time... sometimes you need paint a little borders but... and inside counters you can place all you want... for Nap serie i use NATO counters from Volcanoman... and i use them to in ACW-EAW, even i use in MAW a nap counter mod+Volcanoman Counter hehehe. Nice read about the new images... the BMP deal with them well or you need create a new one bigger??? Lets see how finish the title, i really like Marengo and his middle battles, with less stress to control all units... now the only Nap title i really miss is the 2nd Peninsular war title to cover east combat areas + late period. Thanks and keep it moving. RE: Update on Game Design Process - Sgt_Rock - 10-03-2017 The Units.bmp file is much larger than the one for Marengo. Not sure what you meant by this: "Nice read about the new images... the BMP deal with them well or you need create a new one bigger???" The images are still the same size - 60 x 85 pixels. Because there are 240+ of them the Units.bmp file is much taller. I like that we can mod these games. Counters are very personal. I dont care for a NATO look for these games. I like a symbol that relates to the formation that the unit is in. Otherwise I have to check this on the Info area of the GUI.
