How do I use Corps Attachments? - Embis - 04-16-2019 I have never paid any attention to Corps attachments, mainly because i don't really understand how I might make use of them. The manual doesn't seem to shed much light describing how to do it but not why to do it. I decided to explore the concept in game but didn't get very far. As an example; I opened up the "getting started" file of Normandy '44 and saw that Corps attachments were possible in the opening turn. I invoked the Corps attachments menu item and was presented with the Corps attachments dialogue box. A bewildering array of organisations!! Its easy enough to see how I can attach units to Corps, but: how do I decide who to attach to whom? I presume that by attaching a unit to a corp that unit will derive benefit from the command and supply structure of the corp it is attached to, So what happens to them if I don't make attachments? do they run out of beans and bullets and wander about the battle field accountable to no-one? Any pointers as always gratefully received. RE: How do I use Corps Attachments? - Ricky B - 04-16-2019 I look for one of two situations in deciding to attach a formation to a new Corps (or other available) HQ. As noted, if the formation has moved far away from its current parent, I will attach it to the closest. In most cases, I do this by starting with the Corps HQ and highlighting its sub units. Any that are close by are likely far away from their current parent so I will attach using the menu to the nearby HQ. The second reason is to take advantage of Corps level assets, particularly artillery. If I have a parent HQ with a lot of artillery, I will assign more units to it than an HQ without artillery to provide additional support. I don't go overboard with 10 divisions or anything, I still try to keep it a reasonable mix of divisions across the HQs. Rick RE: How do I use Corps Attachments? - MikeC - 04-18-2019 In the Skyline Drive scenario in Bulge '44, there is a collection of Nebelwerfer battalions that have no spotters at the beginning of the scenario. I think that all other units of their parent corps are off board to the south. I didn't notice this until the game was in progress. My first opportunity, I attached them to an onboard corps, and they were able to fire away. Are corps attachments possible before the first game turn of a PzC scenario, even if it is not a night turn? RE: How do I use Corps Attachments? - Ricky B - 04-18-2019 No, only on the specific turns. RE: How do I use Corps Attachments? - c00per - 04-19-2019 Corp attachments allow you to bulk up a corp, front etc. It is a very powerful tool and should be utilized. Like parameter data learn how to use it. I do not know how many games I have checked an opponent to see how many times they have redone turns. It is a good tool also and will help you qualify opponents you want to play and ones you do not. Bump...please RE: How do I use Corps Attachments? - Ricky B - 04-25-2019 The parameter data file definitely does NOT store anything around game play results. It is fixed and does not update. I am also not aware of anything else in the scenario file, but wouldn't be impossible I suppose.
