Limited Objectives - Liebchen - 04-21-2020 Where in the rules does it actually describe how limited objectives work? I've seen descriptions of limited objectives, explaining their design purpose, but I can't find anything on the actual mechanism. For instance, do they have to be held on the turn of expiration for them to count? Or does capturing them once score their values, irrevocably? RE: Limited Objectives - Green - 04-21-2020 Limited Objectives are explained on page 22 of the new PzC User Manual as follows; "Some objectives are specified as Limited Objectives. Limited Objectives are objectives that expire after a set number of turns. When an objective expires, the side that held it at the moment it expired will gain the points and the objective will be removed from the map. When objectives are removed from the map then they can no longer change ownership; the ownership and points awarded are permanent. If an objective is a Limited Objective, then the Objectives Dialog will display an "L" and a number. The "L" stands for "Limited" and the number listed is the turn number that the objective will expire (the objective will expire after that turn has been completed). RE: Limited Objectives - Liebchen - 04-21-2020 Yes, I also see that in the Serbia thread: Game engine changes/ updates Limited Objectives These are objectives that expire after a set number of turns. When an objective expires, the side that held it at the moment it expired will gain the points and the objectives will then be removed from the map. When objectives are removed from the map then they can no longer change ownership, the ownership and points awarded are permanent. If an objective is a Limited Objective, then the Objectives Dialog will now display an "L" and a number. The "L" stands for "Limited" and the number listed is the turn number that the objective will expire (the objective will expire after that turn has been completed). But it's not in the FIRST WORLD WAR user manual!!! RE: Limited Objectives - Green - 04-21-2020 (04-21-2020, 09:42 AM)Liebchen Wrote: But it's not in the FIRST WORLD WAR user manual!!! Yes, that does seem odd but is presumably just an oversight. I think the rule was developed for FWWC and is no doubt used in Serbia '14. In terms of PzC it has ony been used in France '40, so far. RE: Limited Objectives - Volcano Man - 04-21-2020 Not sure what manual you are looking at, but its on page 27 of Serbia '14's User.pdf. The rule was written there first. ;) RE: Limited Objectives - ComradeP - 04-22-2020 It doesn't matter if the objective is captured and recaptured, its final owner on the turn when it expires is seen as tracked as the owner for the remainder of the game (a status that can't be changed). RE: Limited Objectives - Mr Grumpy - 04-22-2020 Yes its not that complicated really, you just have to get used to the idea that some objectives may disappear rather than be permanent which is what we have all grown used to. So the dialogue box showing the turns the objectives expire and the same info that is displayed in the command report have just become more important for a player to note, being one turn late to take an objective because you missed it was going to expire will be very annoying. |
