How many more were made made during the war?

It wasn't very many that's for sure.

GM made tanks and trucks. Chrysler was making airplane parts and trucks. They got into tanks too but not sure how many. There used to be a big Chrysler tank plant in Lima Ohio but that came after the war I believe. Ford I'm not sure what they were doing probably trucks. Smile

Weren't most car manufacturers producing trucks and planes?
I know that railroad manufacturing was converted to produce tanks.
Henry Ford built a bomber factory and produced three out of five bombers in the arsenal.

I'd go with the lower numbers. Americans were in to war production and restrictions of goods. So there were not many who would or could even buy a car.

The Lima Ohio tank plant is in operation producing about 11 tanks per month. It is operated by General Dynamics Land System Division and UAW local 2075.

In the 1940's:
In May 1942 construction began for Lima Army Tank Plant to manufacture centrifugally cast gun tubes in the steel foundry. This manufacturing method was rendered obsolete, so the army converted it to a tank depot for modifying and processing combat vehicles for export and domestic shipping.[3]

In November 1942, a GM subsidiary, United Motors Services, took over operation of the plant to process vehicles under government contract. The plant prepared many vehicles for Europe, including the M5 light tank and the M26 Pershing tank.

In the 1970's it became involved with Chrysler as the Army selected Chrysler's design for the new Abrams tank:

In 1976, the army selected Chrysler's design for what would become the Abrams tank, and designated the Lima plant, operated by Chrysler, to initially build the tank. The army pressured Chrysler, in financial difficulty, to form a subsidiary, Chrysler Defense, to hold and protect the tank contract from potential bankruptcy proceedings.

Lima Ohio is about 1-2 hours from where I reside.

Fun question again Dave, keep them coming Helmet Smile

As for this question, I have no idea. Who wants cars anyway when you can drive around in a little tank?

What about the other 610?     Wink

With that said, the auto industry claims there were 139 cars built in 1943 and 610 built in 1944.
