Kursk 43 - Obstacle Movt - Lethal - 04-23-2021 Greetings, Looking at Obstacles in Kursk '43, Scenario 0705_06 A Gaping Hole_Alt Movement into and through obstacles in Travel mode seems to work as advertised, but I am having issues with Deployed mode. For instance, Hex 1,20 Motorised Infantry, morale B. Given command - Move on Foot. The unit has 26MP. Move to penetrated obstacle at hex 2,20, clear hex, same elevation, Soft conditions. Was expecting: one quarter of 26 = 6.5 plus clear (6 * 150%) 9 = 15.5, round up 16, so balance 10 after movement, but get 8. Can anyone explain this? Does motorised infantry use 200% when on foot? clear 6 * 200% = 12, one quarter 6.5 rounded down = 18. 26-18=8. If so, is this the intention for motorised infantry? Don't think so because the clear hex cost is 9. thx RE: Kursk 43 - Obstacle Movt - Green - 04-23-2021 I believe the calculation is done as follows; movement cost = (terrain cost + full movement allowance/4) x environmental condition % Basically, the cost of entering the obstacle is also affected by the environmental conditions. For your example this means; movement cost = (6 + 26/4) x 150% = 18.75 The difference is rounding. RE: Kursk 43 - Obstacle Movt - Lethal - 04-23-2021 OK, that is a very interesting way of calculating the cost. So the base value has the soft condition factor applied to it as well. Nice! RE: Kursk 43 - Obstacle Movt - Dog Soldier - 04-24-2021 Green's calculation makes sense because of the channeling effect of a penetrated obstacle hex versus no cost for the obstacle in the calculation if the obstacle is removed, in game terms, from hex by an engineer unit. I would say the game is modeling the higher cost in Green's calculation when you consider the ground being more churned up to move a unit through a confined open lane in the hex when the hex is only penetrated instead of taking the additional delay to have engineers clear a wider path or more pathways thorough the obstacles which would then give a unit more pathways through the obstacle hex and decrease the movement points needed. The MP expended also include the time to split up the unit into smaller components as it passes through the hex then to reorganize on the other side into a cohesive unit. Dog Soldier |
