Countdown to CS: Vietnam 1.0 - Crossroads - 09-25-2021 We are inching closer to our hands-off date handing out the game code to Matrix Games. Here's a little thread to make the wait a bit shorter perhaps. We are writing a series of blogs for instance. I am writing two of them:
To start off, here's the first Campaign Series Event Engine (CSEE) Developer Diary out: Triggering Events - link to CSLegion.com Any questions or comments we are happy to answer them here too! RE: Countdown to CS: Vietnam 1.0 - Compass Rose - 09-26-2021 Based on what you stated above, can you please clarify if this game ends in 1967 or does to cover all of the US involvement through 1973? Thanks RE: Countdown to CS: Vietnam 1.0 - Jason Petho - 09-26-2021 1968-1979 will be available in the future as a separate DLC. This is a good excuse to give a shout for our updated FAQ section at the CSLegion.com as well: https://cslegion.com/about/faqs/ RE: Countdown to CS: Vietnam 1.0 - 5 Leichte Div - 10-03-2021 Kommandants - this all has the right sound - " sehr gut " ! Quite the grind it has been for ya. Carry On - it'll be great stuff ! Providence. TS 5 Leichte Div RE: Countdown to CS: Vietnam 1.0 - Crossroads - 10-03-2021 Here's the first blog post of a series in covering the content available with Vietnam 1.0. It is still at BETA, but this should not be too far off. The French Indochina War in Vietnam 1.0 (directs to CSLegion.com) There will be some 20+ scenarios covering the conflict, from, a company sized jump to Giong Dingh in 1948, to the Street Without Joy and a huge Complexity 8 scenario covering Operation Camargue, see below Included also are some key campaigns, such as the Day River campaign in Spring 1951 with five scenarios, and the Hoa Binh campaign of Autumn 1951 with two scenarios, and Dien Bien Phu with a ten-series scenario set. Questions and comments welcome! RE: Countdown to CS: Vietnam 1.0 - Crossroads - 12-06-2021 Seems I've missed a couple of Counting down articles here: Part 2 of the CS Event Engine series: Accessing Adaptive AI from CSEE Lua scenario scripts https://cslegion.com/developer-diary/campaign-series-event-engine-in-vietnam-1-0-accessing-adaptive-ai/ Part 2 of the Vietnam 1.0 scenario content series: The Vietnamese Civil War scenarios in 1.0 https://cslegion.com/vietnam/the-vietnamese-civil-war-in-vietnam-1-0/ Any questions or comments, please share with us! Is that being worked on now or pretty much put on the back burner to work on something else? Well, yes, where the "something else" is working on the base game. Seriously, we have another 50+ post-Tet scenarios (including many scenarios on the "Laos Secret War") already crafted but to be withheld from the initial CSVN 1.0 release. Why withheld? It's because they have not been adapted to the CSEE/SAI, there is no meaningful (or at all) .lua file created for them yet. Writing scenario CSEE/SAI .lua files is the most time consuming part of the full scenario creation process. The CSVN game is already quite delayed. Rather than hold back another year (beyond the 50, we plan another 50 or so scenarios for the later DLC, i.e., 100 DLC scenarios on top of the 100+ scenarios in the base game, thus 200+ in all), we have to draw the line at some point. So we (and our publisher, Slitherine) decided to release the game sooner rather than later. Therefore, no post-Tet ("And Beyond") scenarios in the initial release. Note that especially since the CSEE/SAI is so new, scripting the .lua files is an ongoing learning experience. Lessons still to be learned in scripting the ~100 DLC .lua files will be retroactively applied to revise the initial 100+ scenarios in the .lua file collection, making them even better. Just like a game is never finished to anyone's satisfaction; there will always be wish list, new feature bells & whistles to be added, bugs to be fixed, etc.; the CSEE/SAI files will never be perfected. There will always be room for improvement (and alas, bug fixes). The Campaign Series being a "living game" and all that. |
