SOLVED PBEM troubleshooting - MCP1972 - 10-07-2024

I'm trying to play my first PBEM PzC scenario and having a bit of trouble. I've received the first turn from my opponent (only 9kb in size btw?) but when I try to open it according to the instructions in the link below it just opens into the default "single hex" view. There's no prompt for a replay or to save a password or anything. I'm on v4.04 of France 40 Gold and I believe my opponent is as well. Am I missing anything obvious? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Just figured it out. Windows apparently doesn't like special characters so PSA. If playing 0512_05 from France 40 PBEM you'll have to rename it, as it chokes on either the umlaut or the bang! or both.

That guide is...slightly dated, but most of it should still work.

PBEM files now go into a "saves" folder and not the main folder of a certain game.

Just to be sure: you've switched the mode to Play by E-Mail in the Mode menu and are attempting to open a .bte file?

9 kb is small, but for a side with only a handful of units it might be possible.

Ah yes, that would also cause issues.

Enjoy your first PBEM!
