There are only four types of officers. First, there are the lazy, stupid ones. Leave them alone, they do no harm. Second, there are the hard-working intelligent ones. They make excellent staff officers, ensuring that every detail is properly considered. Third, there are the hard-working, stupid ones. These people are a menace, and must be fired at once. They create irrelevant work for everybody. Finally, there are the intelligent lazy ones. They are suited for the highest office.” ― Erich von Manstein You want to be the second one for this tournament. - Patric RE: Winter Operations - Kharkov '43: Round 1 - akilpio - 10-11-2024 Akilpio (Soviet) and Mersh (Axis) have finished the first round scenario. The result was a minor victory for the Soviets with 1004 points. RE: Winter Operations - Kharkov '43: Round 1 - ComradeP - 10-12-2024 A fine result! Did you manage to capture Kupyansk? RE: Winter Operations - Kharkov '43: Round 1 - akilpio - 10-12-2024 (10-12-2024, 06:59 AM)ComradeP Wrote: A fine result! Thanks! I wasn´t able to capture Kupyansk, only to surround it. I was able to exit quite many of the cavalry units, but not enough for a major victory. It was an interesting scenario. RE: Winter Operations - Kharkov '43: Round 1 - Fhil - 10-13-2024 Panther (Soviet) and Fhil (Axis) reporting their game, which ended in Soviet minor defeat with 478 pts. RE: Winter Operations - Kharkov '43: Round 1 - Ricky B - 10-21-2024 Witblitz/Soviet and Ricky B/Axis completed our game. The final score was 262 points/major loss for the Soviets, with my Germans preventing breakthroughs until the last turn which saw 4 units isolated, as my forces slowly disintegrated under the Soviet pounding. It is a battle where, I think depending on retreat routes early on, and probably having the Soviet cavalry taking risks in T mode along roads to assault, could have easily had a different result. RE: Winter Operations - Kharkov '43: Round 1 - The_General - 10-23-2024 Liebchen (Soviet) - The_General (Axis): Soviet minor defeat with 507 pts. RE: Winter Operations - Kharkov '43: Round 1 - Dog Soldier - 10-23-2024 Dog Soldier (Allies) and Partizanka (Axis) completed our game. A Soviet minor victory 969 VP. Tough going for the poor peasant infantry of the Motherland. They did their duty and made a crack in the German defense. The Cavalry pounded through while the Mechanized brigade and infantry rounded up dazed German prisoners. The SS Police got the worst of it. Death's head is a death sentence on the Eastern front. Partizanka played a skillful defense. It was not compromised, just caught between the need to defend Kupyansk (successfully) and the exit hex. Calvary Corps was just one turn away for exiting entirely. His defense delayed that outcome well.
