Any advantage in combo fire?

c_Question Mark  Any advantage in combo fire?
Is there any advantage from the attackers standpoint of firing all units in a hex at once against a given target as opposed to firing one unit at a time against it?

There may be reasons to fire one unit at a time, but I'm just curious whether firing all units at once might increase the chances for a kill?

Thanks,

Pat

Give a man fire and he'll be warm for a day.
Light a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

RE: Any advantage in combo fire?
Montana,

Firing all units at once at a target or "Volley Fire" as it is often called, doesn't increase the chance of a kill. It is usually done to offset OP fire as when units fire as a group all the results are calculated at once, and OP fire can only take place after the units have fired. So if you fire 3 tanks at once at a target all 3 get a hit in and Op fire takes place after all 3 have fired, if you fire them individually you may get Op fired after only 1 has fired and it may disrupt or eliminate a unit that is yet to fire.

The trade of is sometimes this is wasteful of fire as you may get a Disrupted, No effect, No effect - result when your intention was merely to disrupt the unit, to prepare for an assult.

If I am not within assault range I tend to do it to save time, and generally will always do it if I know a unit has OP fire remaining
