I was wondering about this.
Alone (modern war) is a smaller map where the americans are deployed in a 6 hex outpost. In the outpost is a 120mm mortar and crew. The min. range on that is such that only a narrow band of the map is available for targetting.

Is that by design? Historical accuracy? A way to weight victory points? Or is it an oversight? Seems like a smaller caliber mortar would be more useful as opfor starts within the min range of this weapon and thus its not used in the scenario.

Historical fluff.

It was there in reality, and so I decided to keep it. You can always uncrew it, and use the crew for other purposes.

You can uncrew a weapon by selecting the crew, and then having them 'drop' it. Then they can move, and pick up other weapons.
