RE: Masters of the Air
I seen it on cable, not Apple TV, never heard of Apple TV before. If it's the same show, which it probably is, it was pretty good. I was impressed by the narration.

RE: Masters of the Air
I seen another show on Youtube called Masters of the Air, it was pretty good. I don't know if that's the one you were talking about. This show wasn't a documentary, it was more of a movie, it had a lot of action scenes. I don't believe they showed the whole thing, only parts of it.

I've now watched the first two episodes and can say it's pretty stellar. The acting and production are good and the action scenes are phenomenal. You really get a feel for being there. The one thing hard to convey is the time it took to get to the objectives and back. I thought the movie Memphis Bell did that well, but these episodes are shorter than a movie, so that's getting pretty picky.

RE: Masters of the Air
Yes, I've been watching it on AppleTV, it's about 4 or 5 episodes in now. While I can't say it is as compelling as Band of Brothers was, I think they have made a wise decision to return to the BoB "style" and follow one specific unit (in this case the 100th Bomb Group...aka "the Bloody Hundredth" and two main characters (Egan and Cleven), as opposed to the way they told the story in Pacific. Now, I really do enjoy the Pacific miniseries as well, but the first time through I was only able to follow the story lines because I happened to have read the several books they based it on. BoB and Masters are both based on a single book, and therefore flow better.

Still, it probably has inconsistencies or embellishments. I watched a documentary about the Fall of France in 1940. They had plenty of fight scenes in Normandy with the Brits invading but the story was about the British counterattack. All Documentaries have to be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, this isn't even as factual as a Documentary I'm sure. It's a mini-series based upon a Non-Fiction Book, but just as Band of Brothers was also based upon a Non-fiction book and got lots of things "different" than the book, I imagine this one will as well. I used to (naively) think that Documentaries were at least factual, but EVERYTHING is made with an agenda.

You are not alone. All these are made to be entertaining. It's just disappointing when you see something on the History or Military channel, don't remember which, it's been 30 years? Ever since then, I just watch for the action scenes like any movie.
