I stop at the HPS Sims site every once in a while to see whats going on there. The other day I stopped and found that they released a new game called Combat Actions Vietnam. It's a small scale tactical simulation of firefights in Vietnam. The player takes the role of a US squad leader or Platoon leader and commands individual soldiers in a firefight. The scenario is generated from a series of settings (size, commitment level, mission type, etc...), so it's different every time, however, it's always on the same map.
You receive a certain number of command points with which you activate soldiers to do actions. Soldiers can become panicked or pinned which reduces their effectiveness. They can also become "FNG" if they are separated from the rest of the squad. It will then cost more points to activate him. The AI tends to be pretty aggressive and I have yet to win a game. Overall, the graphical quality is pretty good with soldiers represented by stand up "counters". My only complaint is the fact that the battles all take place on the same map, although you can vary the amount of vegetation.
The game sells for $15 download only or $25 for those of you who want a disc.
That's my 2 cent review.
