Night flares

How do you get a unit to launch flares in night scenerio's?

Dragoon,

1. press alt + shift at the same time.

2. Make sure you are in fire mode.

3. Right-click on the hex you wish to illuminate.

Keep in mind that flares don't have nearly the range of a unit's regular weapons, and that they often drift. They also fail to fire about half the time (this will use up action points, but not starshells). A failed roll will not illuminate the hex of the unit firing it, but a successful launch will.
