Plotting movement through trees is no more complicated than doing convoy movement on a road. In fact, it's about the same. The biggest tip I can give you is to enter the gap in the trees at 90 degrees. Go in straight and then keep the movement line right in the center of the clear ground and you can move through them without alot of trouble if the way isn't totally blocked.
If you have trouble moving convoys down roads then you might have to take a little more time and effort to be sure you go through the gaps clean. The twists or distance you move through the gaps in trees doesn't affect the movement through them at all. If the tiles come close together does.
