i am playing a campaign from mideast '67 with a friend of mine .. if i update the game to the recently released v1.06, should the campaign still be playable or some error will occur?

It will work fine - the SCN file info is transferred to the BTL file and everything is backwards compatible. You and your opponent should update at the same time so as to avoid anything weird happening.
