RE: BootCampers
Good morning folks,
I'd like to reiterate what Dennis has said. At this point the BootCampers who have been inactive more than 30 days have received an EMAIL, probably two since we didn't coordinate that better, about their status on the Blitz. Now, rather than having to hit the 'Delete' key, we'd all prefer you jump on in a get a game started/finished and join in on the fun. There are plenty of veteran players on the ladder who would be more than willing to play a game in order to get you out of there, and no-one's going to be looking to take advantage of a newbie. I've had the luck to play against nothing but great guys on this ladder, folks who like to talk strategy and point out mistakes that a new guy might be making. It's all about having fun, I think you'll find.
Over the next couple weeks I'll be putting out some posts regarding some of the initiatives I'm planning on starting here at the Blitz. A few years ago I found this site as a SB newbie and was excited with all the chatter and such. Things have slowed down a bit the past few years, but there is no reason that this forum and ladder can't be energized again. Many of you are on multiple ladders, which is great. I don't think any ladder administrator cares about recording games elsewhere, so if you've been neglecting registering your games here, I will ask you to please do so. Dennis has taken the time to put all the SCW games into the database. I'm going to try to get The Long War scenarios in there as well.
Lastly I'd like to thank Barnacle Bob for handling the SB side of things the past few years. In talking with him, I know that his life has gotten very busy with family things, so it makes sense that he passes the torch to others for a while. Bob was one of the first guys I played here on the Blitz and I've always enjoyed our games together.
Get some!

RE: BootCampers
The purging process has begun. I've eliminated anyone inactive in the last 6 months, which is more than enough time to introduce yourself and get a game going. I've seen a couple of Ladder Booties EMAILing for games, welcome to the ladder!

RE: BootCampers
The Bootcamp has been officially cleaned up, removing anyone who hasn't registered a game in at least 3 months. Many were in the 8-10 month range. No-one replied to the EMAIL that was sent giving them the heads-up that this was coming. Several got more than one EMAIL...
That being said, I'd much rather see folks who join our community jump on board and find a couple of matches to play. For the current boot campers, go ahead and start a thread asking for an opponent. Even if you don't have a ton of SB experience under your belt, many of the guys here will be happy to play a practice game first, no reporting on the ladder, then maybe play for real. Most of us don't get hung up win the 'wins and losses' part of things, but want a good game with an honorable opponent. I never stop learning about this game the more I play...
