Hi,
Gotta situation here. Besides running Blitz campaign, I am also active player in communities of a game called ArmA 2. It is basically military simulator, with tons of mods covering most XX century wars. I play in moderate milsim communities, sticking to real life tactics and weaponry, but we usually do not call each other with ranks etc. (but obviously we stick to CoC!)
We have recently moved to a different community, we are slightly conflicted and it does not go too well at the moment. This means we cannot afford any f@#k ups.
Now, upcoming Sunday (15th February) we are playing Operation Callsign Charlie - afaik fictional one, where Platoon (-) of US AirCav unit (1965) must complete a number of objectives. AirCav squads are not historically written (they have 12 men each, RATELO in each).
Anyway, I would be glad if Vietnam war veterans (or history specialists from that period) could provide me good tips on:
1) Realistic AirCav platoon in 1965, but this is optional, I have no guarantee mission creator will agree to change it last minute
2) I need good tips and basic tactics ( can be shortly, just to catch the grip) of Vietnam era infantry squad. I will be SL on Sunday while my friend goes Plt Leader. He could also use some tips. We know well modern tactics as well as WW2 sollutions, but it will be our first real test in jungle environment - and we lack experience on that matter.
Please, if anyone could tell me if splitting squad into sections was OK, how pointmen were appointed, best distances, methods of communication between squads in grass and jungle. All such stuff.
Please, no books to read, there is no time. Just pure info right here appreciated.
Ah, may be important: we are already inserted, which means we have no helicopter party support available. We have neither artillery and air strikes.
And remember I need it rather fast. Got 4 days only!
Any help appreciated. I promise a YouTube video if it all goes well. And probably a potato, too >
