Checking in!
Gents:
I dropped by to see the "old gang" and see what's kicking around here!
Also, to let you know that I am "alive and well!"
FYI, my work situation has greatly improved with a recent new job and a brighter professional life outlook!
Having a full-time job really helps "stabilize" your family budget... while keeping the bill collectors off your doorstep!
Update on my gaming... I've set aside playing CS, partly because of frustrating and ongoing technical issues, and partly because of "burnout." The release of ME stirred a little 'something" in me... but after I watched the intro video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYyOXl-_aKQ looked at other screen shots, reviewed game descriptions, and followed forum discussions on both the Matrix Games and here at The Blitz Websites... I've decided that ME is not a game that I will purchase. I can't make that "leap" from WW2 to modern warfare or "unlearn" 10+ years of CS play.
Instead, I've gone over to the "Dark Side" - namely the operational side and have really embraced the Panzer Campaigns (PzC) Series! I've purchased my first PzC game - Sicily 43 and have gotten into the longer campaign scenarios! https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards...?tid=68471 A lot of fun!
So, I'm spending most of my "leisure" online time over at the TOC Forums!
Hope everyone is doing well?
Good gaming guys!

RE: Checking in!
Hi Mike,
It's good to see you back. I am waiting on some answers to a nasty problem I encountered with artillery freezing up my game, only in one scenario so far.
I am also playing ME 2 to 1 versus CS just to give it a fair chance.
Glad to hear that health and "wealth" are doing better.
Regards,
Ed

RE: Checking in!
Hello Mike!
Life does throw mean curve balls at times, glad to hear you're back and things are settling down towards the positive paths again
Ah, operational level campaigning. TOAW is a game I've had on my disk continuously since the TS days. How it plays is so different from other IGOUGO systems it continues to be one of those few games I have the time to actually play.
I've had a look at Pz Campaigns especially lately because of the excellent Bulge AAR at the blitz forum, and having bought Beevor's Bulge book (I only buy a few books so I'd have the time to read them too. Beevor has this nice touch to write at a grander scale while keeping the reading experience down and personal with some well placed historical quotes. His Bulge book is warmly recommended).
Together they made for some really nice reading. It is great to have these simulations available to try out things by seeing how they'd turn out in this alternative wargaming reality of ours. I almost bought the Bulge PzC game, but alas, if they'd only bundle these games with some guaranteed playing time included...
Take care (and you need to watch that smoking habit of yours, its not healthy and by the looks of it not legal either )

RE: Checking in!
Gents:
@Ed - Good to see you active on the forums! Keep them honest!
@Dave - Looks to me that the CS Forums are in good and capable hands! Hope the Officer Corps is still chugging along and things have settled down since the "Blitz 3 upgrade?"
@John - Yes! Manila and Biak! It's amazing how "epic" game matches against skilled and crafty opponents (and friends!) stay with us long after the smoke and dust of battle has settled! I thought I had you in both games! Definitely need some kind of "rematch" in the future!
@Petri - Congrats to you, Jason, Mike, Berto, and the others involved in the development and release of ME! I can't begin to image the hundreds of hours of hard work, play testing, map building, OOB development, etc. that went into this new game title.
@Terry - I've always enjoyed our "sword clashes!" Hope to return to CS in the future and will look you up for a rematch!
Keep the "electronic dice" rolling! Good gaming gents!

Good gaming guys! Hi Mike, good to see you still knocking about, sorry I must have missed this over the weekend, really glad to hear things are picking up for you all round and your enjoying what gaming time you have.
I'm with you on ME I decided it's not for me but am glad the general consensuses of reviews so far have been mostly positive.
Anyway don't be a stranger and if you ever feel the need to knock the dust off CS and fancy a game drop me a line.
All the best
Terry (OvB)
