Stavka command has finally confirmed that Col Babazhanian is listed as kia on July 7th, 1943.He had been in command of the the 3rd Mechanised Brigade of the 3rd Mechanised corps.The Colonel was a veteran commander of the war and was reportedly leading his troops against a German armored attack near the Bassia river sector.
It is believed by this reporter that the failure to list the Colonel as missing earlier was done by the corps commander as an attempt to preserve the vodka ration.
