RE: Converting maps to EF gold
Hi Peter,
You'll find this permanently located in the G-1 Admin/Training Ground/CS FAQ:
When one converts scenarios from EFII to EFII Gold thru the re-saving the map trick in the map editor, this leaves the bocage and, or H igh wall problem all over the map. The way to get around this to fully convert a scenario is thus:
1) Open the scenario map in the map editor and then save it. (You then get an error reading map messgage and bocage or walls are all over the map).
2) open the *.map file in a text editor. You will see several blocks of symbols coding out the map (you can really see how the map is coded). Scroll down until you get to a block that is all numbers. It is a large block always near the bottom, and is the only block to be all numbers (at least as far as I have seen). It begins with this series:
0
0
1
00000000000000000000000000000... and so forth down for many lines.
Delete this entire block from the 1 down to the end. If there are more than one block below then clear them all out. Then save map.
3) Reopen the map in the map editor and the save it again. It should now have no bocage or walls. However...
4) EF Gold erases your location labels, at least that has been my experience. So open your old EFII map, and copy and paste your locations list at the bottom of the new number block that appears when you make the above save. Thus:
0000000...0000000 0000000...0000000 0000000...0000000
0000000...0000000 0000000...0000000 0000000...0000000
0000000...0000000 0000000...0000000 0000000...0000000
82.4054 50.4286 1 2 0 Ananino
106.189 59.3333 2 0 0 Basino
56.3846 29.4667 2 1 0 Belyi
And save it again.
5) the map should now function.
