Auto Movement?
Probably already been discussed, but as a relative newcomer to PzC thought I'd bring it up.
Has there ever been any talk of an Organization Movement Order, where one could give an HQ the command to move to a hex (call it an Assembly Area), and all its subordinate units would do so over more than one turn?
It wouldn' have to be super sophisticated. Allow only Regimental or Divisional HQs the order. Subordinate units stay in whatever mode they're in when it executes. Once set the command(s) only work once per turn when an "Activate Organization Move" is chosen, much like A/I Firing. It could use the same path finding algorythm used now. (And so yes, it might fail sometimes given too complex terrain.) No auto combat, avoidance, anything like that. Basically don't use it if moving to contact, only for those multi turn click fests that moving a foot division 100km involve.
And it's going to be real embarrassing if something like this already exists and I just haven't found it... :rolleyes:

There's also divisional movement, where you click in a hex containing a division's units, and alt-rightclick to where you want that unit to go. It'll go as far as it can go that turn, and all units in that division adjacent to it and chained up in sequential adjacent hexes will follow along. You can move the division along turn-by-turn. What I'll do is I'll _select_ the front unit, hit the "Y" key to see the reachable hexes, then _unselect_ the unit and then alt-rightclick it to a reachable hex. It can be quirky, especially if you're moving corps-level units, and they move through some same-corps-level units.
AI movement is a dicey proposition. Best thing is to experiment with both until you're comfortable with how to do them and what they do.

and if you don't wan't to move the whole division but say
just one of its regiments/brigades, then give a divisional
AI movement order first and deselect the unwanted formations
via the 'view-delete AI orders' menu.

Actually, the AI Orders works for the Highlighted Org. Now as Rick said, Highlight the HQ and press the Highlight Org button is the fatsest way to select an entire Division for any single purpose such as issuing an AI Order.
But there is no reason why you can highlight a Company of Inf, press the HIGHLIGHT Org button to select the other two or three Coys in teh Btln and use this as the basis of an AI Order if that was what you wanted to do.
