Turn time remaining
I have noticed that if you place your mouse over the circle of stars at the bottom right it says "planned combat xx%" and "turn used xx%". Is this suppose to be how much turn I have left? If so, I don't think it is accurate because it said planned combat 70%, turn used 0% yet the turn ended after one phase. Should I have not had at least 30% of a turn left?

RE: Turn time remaining
Not exactly. It means that if everything goes right, you might wind up with 30% of the turn left....but no more than that. But other things can cause you to use more than you've plotted; dug in enemy, enemy on "ignore losses"; etc. Although now, in TOAW III, the scenarion designer can limit turn burn, if he sets the scenario up front: see this extract from the "what's new" file in the Manual folder that comes with the game:

"18. Max Rounds Per Combat feature implemented as a scenario design option, which can dramatically reduce the turn burn from earlier versions of TOAW."

So, in your example, if the designer had limited turn burn to one pulse, you would have finished the turn with at least 20% left.

In France 40 Mod B, which I recently re-worked, I've limited the turn burn to three combat pulses. You can still "force" it to use more that than, ie, if you use a unit that's already burned up more of its turn, or plot artillery fire from an HQ or artillery unit that has "zero" movement left; but in the normal case, where you've been careful, it'll limit turn burn to three pulses (30%).

RE: Turn time remaining
Hi Ed; Thanks for the explanation. Still Greek, but understood enough to know that the counter is only an estimation. Indeed I watched it carefully the next turn and I was only at 20% combat use, but then I set up another attack and it would have used up at least 90% of the turn, so I deleted that attack until the very end of the turns and all worked ok. My Germans are enjoying the English Channel sunshine (is there such a thing?) on the sandy beaches of Dunkirk.
