Hi John, Thanks for your comments.
Here is the forum rule:
_________________________________________________
Rule #20
Message Boards are moderated by club leadership with discussions concerning historical and game issues relating to each individual ladder.
While we respect free speech, we reserve the right to edit or delete messages which we determine to be inappropriate.
Please
refrain from personal attacks, ie namecalling, or cursing on the message boards. Debate
can become heated, but lets keep the flaming to a minimum so that we can have reasoned and impassioned discussion.
As with our gaming ladders, the
related message boards are moderated by the Ladder Commanders and their Assistants. In all issues relating to message board content
their word is final. If you have further issues with the board moderation contact the club senior officers.

It does state that the Ladder Commander has the power to edit or delete any posts. That does include the right to lock something down if a debate gets more than
"heated".
Some may disagree with how hot the "heat" is? Or, what impassioned means?
Some may feel that repetion, though tedious to read, is not "inappropriate"? Others may think it is?
What is definately an infraction is cursing on the forum or picking out a member for specific "treatment". You can argue the post but you cannot call a poster names or tell them to shut the :censored: up. That would be a clear violation of forum rules?
In my time as an officer I locked threads and sent e-mail or PM's to members to explain why it was done. Often that was enough to get members back on track. Other times I would edit the offensive part of the posts and leave them so the member would come back to see the "edit".
Hawk was placed into a tough spot as the Ladder Commander and I believe he took the proper actions in closing the thread down. I might have been able to say this sooner but, I was tied up and could not post. :smoke:
Tide1 will be able to fill his shoes and implement the rules where needed.
Everybody just needs to calm down and realize we are discussing a game amongst a group of friends? Different friends have different ideas.
Some friends may get tedious but you never have to shoot them? ;)
